Sports Safety
Prepared is the fastest way home
Responsible participation protects you and the people around you. These general principles apply to almost any endurance activity.
01
Prepare before you go
Know the route or event, check the forecast, and tell someone your plan for long or remote outings.
02
Understand your limits
Train progressively and listen to warning signs such as dizziness, chest pain or unusual breathlessness. Stopping is a valid decision.
03
Use appropriate equipment
Suitable footwear, clothing for the conditions, lighting at night and enough water are basics, not extras.
04
Respect environmental conditions
Heat, cold, altitude and terrain change what is safe. Adapt pace and plans accordingly.
05
Follow rules and instructions
Event rules, marshals and mandatory kit lists exist for safety. Follow them.
06
Respect other participants
Pass courteously, help anyone in difficulty, and leave routes as you found them.
07
Seek qualified guidance
Consult a healthcare professional or qualified coach when you are unsure.
